Handmade furniture and lighting, rooted in story and craft

About Us

Arive began, far from Montreal, in Cali, Colombia. At the time, we were exploring creativity through upcycling furniture found at local flea markets, using it to shape and decorate our own living spaces. It was there that we first discovered how meaningful it felt to work with our hands and transform everyday objects into something personal and expressive.

When we arrived in Montreal, it was at the very beginning of the pandemic. We were starting from scratch, in a new city, in the middle of winter, during a time of isolation. Creating became something we could do from home, but also a way to stay connected. Even without direct contact, sharing what we made helped us reach people and feel part of a community.

We began again in Villeray, Montreal, slowly finding our place. What started with a few pieces grew organically. People responded to the warmth and individuality of handmade furniture, and their curiosity pushed us to keep experimenting. Through local connections and word of mouth, our work continued to grow and evolve, expanding into new forms, refining techniques, and more recently, incorporating 3D-printed elements made from plant-based materials. This has opened up new possibilities for color, pattern, and playful design.

Arive is the meeting point of our different backgrounds, one of us from Montreal, the other from Colombia. One comes from teaching and a love of human connection; the other from design and craftsmanship. Together, we create pieces that are practical, expressive, and made to be lived with, designed and built locally.

Today, everything we make is still rooted in those early days: working with our hands, staying curious, and creating objects that bring character and intention into everyday spaces.

Thank you for being part of our story.
